This morning, I am enjoying the kind of peace that can only come from being in the comfort of one's own home...with no children present. The new ritual at our house the last few months is that every Thursday morning, Chris takes the girls to the pool while I get some much-needed quiet at home. I never have any plans for this time - usually I have a leisurely shower, maybe try to write a bit, muck around online, do a bit of tidying...all without interruption. It is good.
Usually our house is so full of noise and commotion that I can barely form a coherent thought. Moments like I'm experiencing right now really help me to see how important it is for me to have chunks of time like this that I can count on, at home, just to relax and do whatever...with only the gentle hum of the dishwasher to soothe me.
